​Olivia Yiu, or "Teacher Livi" as some of her students like to call her, began taking piano lessons at a young age, and found her love for music and singing watching a stage production of "The Sound Of Music" in Hong Kong where she grew up. On her 11th birthday, she moved to the United States only knowing a few words of English, but Livi found comfort in songwriting and instrument playing, and realized that Music, like love, can be understood in any language.

 

After receiving her BA for Film & TV, with a concentration in Audio and Composition from SMU in Dallas, TX, Livi moved to California and began teaching music and film-making classes along with writing and performing all over Los Angeles. During a friends wedding on the Willamette River, Livi fell in love with the beautiful Pacific Northwest and moved to Portland to continuing performing and teaching private voice, piano, guitar, ukulele, violin, and cello lessons as well as group classes such as Kindermusik, Drama, Glee, Musician's Yoga, and Songwriting at several music schools in Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA. Now, as a member of the Oregon Music Teachers Association (OMTA), Livi is ready to bring her passion for music and her creative style of teaching to help you find your love for music at Luna Music PDX!
